Lindsay Bettis, Miss Seminole County 2022, is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing her MBA from Louisiana State University Shreveport online. At the inaugural competition, she performed a jazz dance dedicated to overcoming adversities and determining her own destiny. Her social impact initiative, “Recover Out Loud: Addiction Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery” was crafted from the responsibility she felt to reverse the addiction crisis after growing up in a family with substance use. She is now employed by a leader in behavioral healthcare industry, Advanced Recovery Systems, as a community outreach coordinator where she has the opportunity to repair lives, restore families, and revive communities. Lindsay is excited to continue working in collaboration with several organizations with missions synergistic with her own social impact initiative such as Project Opioid, The Orange County Drug Free Coalition, Florida Recovery Schools of Central Florida, and many more!
Tia Unsell is Miss Wekiva Springs 2022! She is 23 years old and resides in Crawfordville, FL. Tia is majoring in Communication Sciences & Disorders and plans to graduate with her Masters degree from Florida State University, she then hopes to become a Speech Language Pathologist in the school district that she grew up in. Her Social Impact Initiative is "I am a Dancer Against Cancer," which is a non profit organization that provides financial assistance to dancers, dance educators, and their families that are battling cancer. Tia’s talent is a jazz solo to the hit song Proud Mary by Tina Turner that is definitely a crowd favorite. Something that she looks forward to during her reign is making an impact within Seminole County and throughout the state of Florida with her Social Impact Initiative. I am a Dancer Against Cancer has raised over $2million dollars nationwide, and she hopes to bring more awareness and a mission of hope within the dance community. Tia is super excited to represent as the first ever Miss Wekiva Springs and to grace the Miss Florida stage!
Ava Johnson, Miss Seminole County’s Outstanding Teen, is a 10thgrade honors student. She is active in musical theater, concert band, and is an award-winning state thespian. In Miss Seminole County’s Outstanding Teen she performed a musical theater rendition of “I Enjoy Being a Girl.”
In 2021, Ava published 3 children’s books focused on leadership lessons for girls. Her book series is titled “Am I a Princess?” and is available on Amazon.com. Ava’s social impact initiative is Empowering Young Leaders. Her vision is to represent and train a force of young people who are skilled in leadership and choose to use their influence for good. “The opportunity to build skills and gain experience are desperately needed in today’s youth” says Ava. She hopes to inspire action amongst other teens in her role as Miss Seminole County’s Outstanding Teen.
Ava is excited to have recently been selected as a 2022 Florida Senate Page. After college, she hopes to obtain a law degree and serve the people of Florida as an elected official.
Aashna Shah
Aashna Shah, Miss Wekiva Springs Outstanding Teen, is a 10th grade honors, AP, and dual enrolled student. She is on the Splash Danceteam at the high-school she attends as well as 2 other dance teams, one of which is a Bollywood Dance Team. In the Miss Seminole County’s Outstanding Teen competition Aashna performed a jazz dance to the song “Emergency”. In 2017 Aashna founded Kindness In a Diverse Society, with the aim of helping underprivileged children. Aashna hopes to inspire kids to help others as she lives by the quote “helping others is the way we help ourselves” -Oprah Winfrey. Aashna received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award from The White House for completing 251 hours of service. As Miss Wekiva Springs Outstanding Teen Aashna hopes to show the youth of Florida the importance of volunteering and giving back. Aashna loves smiles and making others smile, whether it’s through her non profit organization or her dreams of becoming a pediatric dental surgeon to continue to make people smile. Aashna wants to remind you to make someone else smile today!
